Olly Fox studied Drama at Manchester University and Music Design for Film & TV at Bournemouth University. He has composed around 150 scores for radio and television, theatre and short films in collaboration with Channel 4, the BBC, and numerous, renowned theatre companies including the National Theatre, Shakespeare’s Globe, Royal Shakespeare Company, Royal Court and Donmar Warehouse.
Olly has covered many styles from Romantic Classical to East European Gypsy to Cuban Son Montuno, exemplified in his much-lauded score for the RSC’s award-winning 2006 production of Much Ado About Nothing in Stratford and the West End. Olly recently wrote a song cycle for acclaimed Counter-Tenor, Robin Blaze, for Caligari, the BBC Radio 3 adaptation of the German expressionist film The Cabinet Of Doctor Caligari. Olly was a founder-member of The Railtown Bottlers, a skiffle and rockabilly band who became ‘International Street Entertainers of the Year’ and house band on Danny Baker After All (BBC1), playing with Suggs, Nanci Griffith, Squeeze and Alison Moyet, amongst others.
Recent composer credits include, for television and film: The Life & Times of Vivienne Vyle (Saunders & French Productions/BBC), Inside The Mind of Hitler (Timewatch/BBC). For radio: The Wizard Of Oz, Caligari, Dr Faustus, (BBC Radio 3 & 4), and for theatre: Novecento (Donmar Warehouse), Women Beware Women, Therese Raquin (National Theatre), Troilus & Cressida, The Frontline (Shakespeare’s Globe), Much Ado About Nothing (Royal Shakespeare Company/Novello Theatre).
