Andy’s most recent work includes his all-action orchestral score for the popular family drama Robin Hood for BBC1 and a more modern soundscape for Law and Order: UK for ITV1.
His first job, in 1991, was composer-in-residence with theatre company The Engine Room. In the same year he won the London Charrington Fringe Theatre Award for Best Score for their production Needs Must. He has since scored numerous productions for theatres around the country.
Radio credits include the widely acclaimed Ghost Sonata for BBC Radio 3 and many more for Radio 4 and the World Service. In 1997, Andy won a Sony Radio Award for his On Air Branding for BBC Radio Wales.
His work in film and television ranges from projects as diverse as the Academy Award nominated Wat’s Pig and Humdrum (both with Aardman Animations) to the documentary series The Six Wives of Henry VIII and Elizabeth, for which he was nominated for a BAFTA for Original Television Music. Other drama credits include two series of the popular crime drama The Inspector Lynley Mysteries, Score and Belonging – all for the BBC.
His work in advertising includes his long-standing association with the hugely popular and multi award-winning Chevron/Techron campaign in the United States.
Andy is a former winner of the Christopher Whelan Award in recognition of his work scoring to picture. He is also a visiting lecturer at the Royal College of Music. He is committed, wherever possible, to using the best musicians and to keeping his music live.
